Biography
My research interest is to study the gut microbiota and its modulation to improve metabolic health. Over the last 10 years, I have worked with research groups in 4 different countries. I was first introduced to the concept of probiotics during PhD in India that enticed interest in me about potential of the microbes to improve metabolic health. I was selected for Commonwealth scholarship and went to Imperial College London, UK where I performed dietary interventions and observed how diet affects gut microbiota composition. During my postdoc in University to Gothenburg, I worked with gnotobiotic mouse models (mice that are born germ-free or are colonized with a defined bacterial community) that gave me deeper exploration of role of gut microbiota in mouse physiology. Currently, I am working in University of Copenhagen and investigating gut microbiota-host interaction in the intestinal hormone producing cells (called enteroendocrine cells) using reporter mouse strains.
