Biography
Almagul Kushugulova obtained her MD degree in 1996 from Akmola State Medical Institute and was awarded a license for Physician of General Practice. In 2000 she received her PhD degree from Akmola State Medical Institute, and in 2010 she obtained a DMSc degree at the National Center for Biotechnology, Astana, Kazakhstan. Regarding her work experience, since 2001, Almagul Kushugulova directed the division of the Republican Collection of microorganisms for industrial use. In 2006, she was the head of the Laboratory of Genetics and Biochemistry of Microorganisms at the National Center for Biotechnology. She supervised 10 research projects on developing screening techniques for diagnosis of hereditary diseases, genetic methods of systematics of probiotic microorganisms, bacteriocins obtaining, development of dietary supplements and therapeutic and prophylactic drugs and onestablishing a collection of industrially important microorganisms. Under the direction of Almagul Kushugulova 6 faculty members successfully completed the scientific dissertations and received CBSc degrees. Since 2011, Almagul Kushugulova has been working at the Center for Life Sciences, Nazarbayev University as a Lead Researcher at the Department of Translational Medicine, Aging and Global Health.
